Dr. Alison O'Mahony, Vice President of Pharmaceutical Research, Named One of 30 Women to Watch 2024 by Utah Business

This week, Alison O’Mahony, VP of Pharmaceutical Research, was named one of 30 Women to Watch by Utah Business. Each year, Utah Business honors 30 women throughout the state of Utah who are furthering the excellence of their companies and the state. As noted by Utah Business, Dr. O’Mahony is committed to working toward the discovery of innovative therapeutics to treat infections and diseases. She has and continues to be an instrumental researcher, manager, and leader at Seek Labs, guiding her team to pursue important and innovative research into CRISPR technology for therapeutic and pharmaceutical development. 

An immunologist and cell biologist by training, Dr. O’Mahony has extensive experience leading scientific teams and assay operations in drug discovery. She has served in scientific leadership roles at Recursion, Eurofins, and DiscoverX. She earned a BSc in Biochemistry and Microbiology from University College Cork from where she went on to earn a PhD in Immunology. Dr. O’Mahony is also deeply committed to building and serving the wider scientific community. She is a founding member of the BioHive Women in Technology and STEM (WITS) chapter, which focuses on supporting and promoting women in Utah’s STEM fields. She also serves on professional boards including Talent Ready Utah, Breakthrough Cancer Research, and the Inflammation Research Association.
