Dr. Alison O’Mahony Named 2026 Mentor of the Year by BioHive

Dr. Alison O’Mahony, Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Seek Labs, has been named Mentor of the Year as part of BioHive’s 2026 Best of BioHive Awards. The award recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to mentorship and the advancement of Utah’s life sciences ecosystem.

Dr. O’Mahony’s impact extends well beyond her leadership at Seek Labs. She is deeply engaged across Utah’s life sciences ecosystem and the broader scientific community, where she consistently invests her time and expertise in developing the next generation of scientists and leaders.

Her mentorship spans multiple local programs, including BioHive’s Women in Techology & Science (WITS) community and Talent Ready Utah, where she has played an active role in supporting emerging talent in the life sciences. She also serves as President of the Inflammation Research Association, where she fosters mentorship and collaboration across scientists at all career stages while promoting the translation of research into therapeutic impact. Additionally, she is a Scientific Committee member for Breakthrough Cancer Research (Ireland), supporting world-class cancer research and mentoring efforts that improve patient outcomes globally.

At Seek Labs, Dr. O’Mahony leads research and development efforts at the intersection of artificial intelligence, molecular diagnostics, and programmable therapeutics. She is known for fostering a culture of rigor, curiosity, and collaboration and balances high-performing teams while advancing complex scientific programs.
